The University of Maryland and Bartlett Tree Experts will dedicate several dogwood trees that are planted near the university's Memorial Chapel, in memory of those who lost their lives in the shootings at Virginia Tech almost a year ago, April, 16, 2007. The dogwoods, the state tree of Virginia, were donated in December by Bartlett Tree Foundation, which sponsors scholarships for students in the university's department of plant science and landscape architecture. A plaque will be presented at the ceremony. Bartlett is donating Virginia Tech memorial dogwoods to approximately 30 academic institutions they support.
